Fire and Ice is Nice!

OK – cheesy rhyme aside, it really is a fabulous facial…

Fire and Ice is Nice!

I have been hearing this question a lot lately, “what is the Fire and Ice facial really like”? And while of course I had the inside scoop from our fabulous estheticians, I was more directly curious myself about this one. It sounds glamorous, and well, sort of intimidating! But, fearless, and willing to try any spa service once (I know, so brave) I made my appointment.

This is a resurfacing facial, so I knew that this would be less about the relaxation, and more about the results (if you want pure luxurious relaxation, book our Signature European Facial). That being said, I also know that our Sorella estheticians make sure that all services share a sense of luxury and pampering – I was not disappointed on any counts!

The Fire and Ice Facial uses products by IsClinical, a line carried here at Sorella. I went into this with pretty high expectations, because I use and am totally devoted to the line for my at home care – but that is a topic for another day. All the other aspects of a good facial are there, cleansing, shoulder and arm massage, extractions, moisturizer, etc. But, all in all, what sets this one apart (duh) is the Fire and Ice.

So, after starting in the usual way, we move to the fun part – the “Fire”. The scent was faintly cinnamon-y, so I immediately thought “holidays”. As to sensation – it started as a pretty mild heat, but it did grow. It never got to a point where I felt like running from the room (or asking Erin to neutralize it, which she can at any time) but it was indeed intense. It reminded me of my youth where someone told me Tiger Balm under my nose was good for a cold – although at least in this case, the product does indeed work as advertised (unlike the Tiger Balm which just made me smell funny and wish it washed off easier)!

Next - the “Ice” portion. The cooling sensation is due in part to menthol, so that can help you understand the sensation somewhat. In this case, the cooling starts out as intense as it will be, and diminishes from there. As with the Fire portion of the program, I could definitely feel the product working, but at no time did I feel the urge to halt things.

I am the first to admit a good facial is relaxing and enjoyable. But, I am also the first to admit that I want to look my best, and am fighting aging tooth and nail - call me vain and I will just agree with you. So, this was perfect for me! The results were amazing. No, let me rephrase that  A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!!!!! Immediately my skin felt smooth as a babies’ bum. I had a bit of a flush to my cheeks for an hour or so, but aside from that no side affects at all. I am told that those with true Rosacea may want to avoid this one, it could be too intense – but I have some broken capillaries, and have been termed as having sensitive skin, and I didn’t have any issues - nor was I advised against it by our team. The best part, though, was the next morning. I woke to find my skin smooth, and more toned. I mean visibly toned – it seemed actually to be firmer somehow. So, now we know why this is also called the Red Carpet Facial….I truly felt I looked better and younger after.

This is a good time of year for a resurfacing facial – the change of season, and cold weather can make your skin dry and flaky (and that isn’t what any of us want to show off at those holiday parties, right?). Speaking for myself, I have found the cure! Curious? Envious? Ready to give it a try? Well, due to popularity we have decided to keep our special price on this facial through the month of December. Enjoy!
